I was Brave

'I am never going to a hot country AGAIN!' shouts one of our children at the nurse as she has her last injection! 10 seconds later and they are all done!

The last of the injections and 3 happy children with their 'bravery certificates!' and off to buy some chocolate as a treat.

That's another thing ticked off our list. Hoorah!

Ken’s first exposure to overseas mission was in the mid-90s when he was a management accountant for a Christian charity in Egypt. While there, he was significantly impacted by a speaker at a spiritual retreat who talked of the great need for accountants and other professionals to help missionary organisations be good stewards of their resources. Ken felt very clearly that he was being called to return to the UK to gain additional professional experience to prepare him to return overseas. When he returned to the UK, he felt guided by God to find a job specifically in Oxfordshire and it was here that he met his future wife Maz.

Maz had recently returned from her second period of overseas mission, this time in rural Malawi. Our shared passion meant that we made lifestyle choices which we trusted would one day allow us to return overseas for a number of years with our three children Audrey (17/6/03), Elijah (11/4/05), Edith (11/12/06).

Ken has 16 years’ senior management experience, the last 9 of which have been as Finance/Corporate Services Director of a national Christian charity which works with ex-offenders. Although it has been difficult leaving such a great charity, Ken and Maz firmly believe that God has provided this exciting opportunity with MAF to help fulfil their calling.

Now based in Nairobi, Ken is responsible for the finances of MAF in Kenya, ensuring that scarce resources are put to good use so that MAF can reach as many isolated people as possible. Maz is exploring opportunities to put her teaching and communications skills to good use to help bring physical and spiritual care to those who need it most.
