Ken visiting the Mission Aviation Fellowship hanger in February, two weeks before the crash |
God's hand of protection over me in such a life threatening situation and the way he has used my accident to strengthen not only my faith in Him but the faith of others too has been a very humbling experience for me. A number of people have contacted Maz and I to tell of how they could feel the impact of their prayers as they prayed them and how they experienced a tremendous intimacy with our saviour as they prayed. A number of people who do not know each other all independently contacted us telling us that as they prayed God had brought Psalm 91 to their mind. This Psalm contains a number of words of reassurance and I would recommend you reading it on a regular basis. In verse 14 it contains these words:
"Because he loves me" says the Lord, "I will rescue him, I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name"One individual shared that they felt that God wanted me to know very clearly what the devil meant for bad God needed me to know He has protected me and always will and that this is meant as evidence to remind me that in the future ahead of me, full of many new challenges as we stepping out in faith to move to Kenya, that His protection is on us and we have no need to fear. This particular promise was powerfully brought home to me when a few days after being released from hospital I was singing the modern hymn by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend "In Christ Alone", and in particular the following verses:
No power of hell no scheme of man can ever pluck me from his hand 'til He returns or calls me home here is the power of Christ I stand.I still need a few more weeks for my body to completely recover from this accident and the physical scars to heal but the way God protected me during the crash, even blocking out my memory of the crash, being cut out of my car and transferred to hospital, was miraculous and I know that in Him we can trust.
